Top Superfoods
#1. Green Tea
Green tea, like any other tea, isn’t something you would necessarily find in the typical “superfoods” category, as the leaves themselves usually aren’t eaten.
However, I am a big fan of green tea, and its great health benefits and contribution to good and healthy living make it worthy enough to be mentioned here. Tea goes a very long way back, and has many significant implications in culture and history as we know it. Green tea originated in China, but has become associated with many cultures throughout Asia. It is distinctive due to its Camellia sinensis leaves undergoing minimal oxidation during processing, and that may be the big secret behind it.
Many people have used green tea throughout the years as a cure for many illnesses and diseases, from cancer to heart diseases. This is all thanks to the high levels of antioxidants, and namely ECCG, a compound that slows irregular cell growth. Refreshing and having that great aroma and taste, green tea is a wonderful way to get your body to thank you.
