Top Rock Drummers
#1. Dave Grohl
Since his relatively early days in Nirvana, Dave never really stopped to look back.
He has probably made his first entry to the hall of fame as Nirvana’s drummer, but since then has kept his schedule pretty busy. It was mostly with the Foo Fighters, but also with additional projects, such as his own Probots, Them Crooked Vultures and Queens of the Stone Age, to name a few. The latter examples are among the reasons I chose him as one of my top 5 in the 2000’s.
Other than his fantastic work behind the drum kit throughout Nirvana’s entire discography, he is responsible for the drums in Songs For The Deaf, by Queens of the Stone age, which is an amazing album all in all, but more specifically – has some of my favorite drum parts. He is also the drummer in Them Crooked Vultures, a super-group that also stars Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme. Dave’s drumming here is top-notch, as always, and I think his experience as a diverse musician shines right through.
It is quite possible that in a few years from now, people will look back at these drummers of the 2000’s, and create a new hall of fame just for them, in case they aren’t already there…
