#4. Area 51
Also known as “The Groom Lake Base”, “Dreamland” and “Watertown”, Area 51 is a U.S. Air Force facility, located 90 miles north of Las Vegas, in grid 51 of the Nevada Test Site.
The base’s primary purpose is not known to the public. However, based on historical evidence, it probably supports development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems. That’s the supposed official purpose, in any case. However, its secretive nature and undoubted connection to classified aircraft research, along with the intense security around it and reports of unusual phenomena, have led Area 51 to become a focus of modern UFO and conspiracy theories.
Many “conspiratorial” activities can be found among these, and some of my favorites include:
- Meeting and cooperating with extraterrestrials.
- Developing teleportation and/or time-travel technology.
- Storing, researching and reverse-engineering alien spacecraft that crashed on earth.
- Studying occupants of crashed spacecraft (both living and dead).
- Developing exotic energy weapons.
- Providing a base of operations for M12 (Majestic 12, a secret committee of scientists, military leaders, and government officials brought together to recover and investigate alien aircraft) in which meetings are held and plans are made.
There are many more activities related to this area; some of which have been debunked, while others still allow us to enjoy the benefit of the doubt.
